Wiliot gets $30 million funding from Amazon, Samsung and others for sticker-sized Battery-free Bluetooth tag

Wilito, which is a semiconductor pioneer has raised a $30 million series B for a total of $50 million in funding. This comes after the company's demonstration of the first-ever sticker-sized Bluetooth sensor tag incorporating an ARM processor powered solely by scavenging energy from ambient radio frequencies. A Wiliot chip glued to a simple antenna printed on plastic or paper can authenticate the proximity of a product by transmitting an encrypted serial number along with weight and temperature data from a device the size of a postage stamp. The tags use Wiliot’s nanowatt computing to communicate with any device enabled by Bluetooth Low Energy, such as smartphones, Wi-Fi access points, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices that can connect to digital displays, Wi-Fi and LTE cellular networks. Wiliot closed its Series B round of funding with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Investment Arm, Samsung Venture Investment Corp., and Avery Dennison. These organizations have joined Norwest Venture Partners, 83North, Grove Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, and M Ventures to raise an additional $30 million of funding. Spotify and T-Series ink global content partnership

Just as rumored, Spotify and T-series which is India's leading music and film company have agreed to a global content agreement. The deal will see Spotify’s worldwide audience gain access to T-Series’ entire Indian song catalog, including Bollywood and regional movie soundtracks, as well as non-film albums and emerging artist content. This move also strengthens Spotify's plans to launch in India which is expected to launch in March. T-Series currently has more than 160,000 songs in its catalog. The company's YouTube channel has around 80 million subscribers and videos have been viewed more than 58 billion times. Samsung Galaxy M series smartphones with Infinity U display launching in India on January 28 on Amazon

After leaks, Samsung has officially announced that its Galaxy 'M Series' smartphones will launch in India on January 28th exclusively on Amazon.in. Based on earlier rumors, we can expect the Galaxy M10 (SM-M105F), Galaxy M20 (SM-M205F) and Galaxy M30 (SM-M305F) smartphones. Galaxy M20 even showed up on the Samsung India support site recently. The invite shows Infinity  U display with a camera inside the notch and the earpiece is present on the top bezel. Official teaser images also reveal curved edges, power button and volume rockers on the right side, dual rear cameras and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. OPPO schedules an event on January 16 to introduce 10x optical zoom camera tech

OPPO introduced world’s first camera module with 5X optical zoom at the MWC 2017, but we didn't see any phone with the tech. Today the company has scheduled an event on 16th January in China, to introduce 10X optical zoom technology, ahead of this year's MWC next month. According to earlier design drafts and leaks, the phone will have a periscope structure to divert light 90-degrees through prism into a telephoto lens.
