Lenovo just announced the Z5s, the company’s latest mid-range smartphone in the ‘Z series’ in China, as it had promised. It has a 6.39-inch Full HD+ 19.5:9 aspect ratio display with 92.6% screen-to-body ratio, is powered by Snapdragon 710 with up to 6GB of RAM, runs Android 9.0 (Pie) with ZUI 10 on top, has triple rear cameras, 16-megapixel primary camera, secondary 8-megapixel telephoto lens for 2x zoom and a 5-megapixel camera for capturing depth information in porait shots. It also comes with a 16-megapixel front camera in the notch. It has a glass back, metal frame, comes with P2i splash-resistant coating to protect the phone from light rain and accidental spills, and packs a 3300mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. Facebook Messenger gets native support for Boomerang videos, new selfie mode, AR stickers and more

Facebook has added a hot of new features for its Messenger app including native support for looping Boomerang videos, there’s also a Selfie mode that automatically blurs out the background, and an augmented reality feature that lets you place Messenger’s stickers in your photos and videos. The new selfie mode to the Messager makes the total camera modes to five including normal, video, text, boomerang, and selfie. Facebook Messenger already includes Augmented reality effects and the new AR stickers are the company's attempt to pair these effects with the same stickers that can currently be sent through standard text chats. By pressing the camera icon next to a sticker, you can now add that sticker as an augmented reality object. Facebook says that Messenger’s new features will become available to a majority of users globally starting today, and will be available in both Messenger’s redesigned app and its older version.

After being announced earlier this month, PUBG Mobile is getting a new update bringing the version to 0.10. It brings new Vikendi snow map, Snowmobile vehicle and more. Apple iOS 12.1.2 brings bug fixes for eSIM on iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max

Apple today has released the iOS 12.1.2 update two weeks after pushing out the 12.1.1 update and one week after Apple seeded the first iOS 12.1.2 beta to developers. Unlike the previous update, the iOS 12.1.2 is only available to iPhones and not iPads.  The Apple release notes state that the iOS 12.1.2 will bring bug fixes to the eSIM activation and a cellular connectivity issue in Turkey. This update is mainly focused on bug fixes rather than any new features. The iOS 12.1.2 release includes software tweaks in China that remove patented Qualcomm functionality. A Chinese court last week issued an iPhone sales ban on iPhone 6s through iPhone X in China after ruling that Apple had infringed on two Qualcomm patents related to resizing and reformatting photos and managing applications using a touchscreen when using apps. Apple said it would release a software update for iPhone users in China to address "the minor functionality of the two patents at issue." Xiaomi Play smartphone to be announced on December 24

After a teaser recently, Xiaomi today announced that it will introduce a smartphone in the new Play series in China on December 24th. The company doesn't reveal any details other than the name of the phone, but the name hints that it could be targeted at gaming. It could also be the 48MP camera phone that the company has been teasing. There are some rumors that say that it could be a version of Snapdragon POCO / POCOPHONE F1 for the Chinese market at an affordable price tag of less than 1999 yuan. Qualcomm Technologies has announced its next-generation modem purpose-built for the Internet of Things (IoT) applications; the new Qualcomm 9205 LTE modem. It brings together key elements required to build cellular-enabled IoT products and services in a single chipset, including global multimode LTE category M1 (eMTC) and NB2 (NB-IoT) as well as 2G/E-GPRS connectivity, application processing, geolocation, hardware-based security, support for cloud services and accompanying developer tools.  The modem is engineered to reduce power consumption by up to 70% in idle mode. The Qualcomm 9205 LTE modem is also 50% smaller and more cost-effective than its predecessor – making it ideal for IoT applications requiring low-power, wide-area connectivity in a small form factor device. The new modem is also software-compatible with the Company’s prior LTE IoT solutions which allows module manufacturers to reuse software investments to develop new module solutions.
