Google rolls out support for Lens in Google Images

Google has announced users can use Lens to search for information in an image like a landmark in a travel photo or wallpaper in a stylish room.  Similar to Lens in the Google Assistant and Google Photos, Lens in Google Images identify things within an image you might want to learn about and shows you similar ones. When you press the Lens button in Google Images, dots will appear on objects you can learn more about. The lens in Google Images can also make it easier to find and buy things you like online. Google Images will also show you related information and images. From there, you can learn more about it, or find places where you might be able to buy a similar couch. Lens in Google Images also helps website owners by giving them a new way to be discovered through a visual search, similar to a traditional Google Search. Facebook brings Music feature to profiles and Stories, expands Lip Sync Live to pages

Facebook has launched the ability to add Music on Facebook Stories and is expanding Lip Sync Live, and soon will be making it possible to add songs to your Profile. With this new additions, users can add a song to photos and videos they share to Facebook Stories. To add music, just take a photo or video from the Facebook Camera or chose one from your camera roll, then tap on the sticker icon and select the music sticker. Once you find the song you want to add, you can pick the perfect part to share and add the sticker with the artist and song name. Move the sticker around and add other stickers and effects to customize your story. Facebook is also rolling out Lip Sync Live to all profiles in many countries around the world. It is also opening up the feature to more artists and creators by expanding to Pages, giving them more ways to connect with their fans. After collecting feedback, Facebook is also starting to add lyrics to Lip Sync Live which are rolling out from today, and are available for songs including Dua Lipa’s “New Rules,” Khalid’s “Better,” and “Girls Like You” by Maroon 5. Google is making it easier to review and delete your recent search activity

Google has announced that it is making it easier for users to make a decision about their data directly within the Google products they use every day, starting with Search. Without ever leaving Search, you can now review and delete your recent Search activity, get quick access to the most relevant privacy controls in your Google Account. When you use Google products, you generate data about your activity. For Search, this data includes the terms you search for, links you interact with and other information like your current location when you search. Google is now bringing the controls to you – from directly within Search, you can review or delete your Search activity and quickly get back to finding what you were searching for. The company is also providing quick access to the privacy controls in your Google Account that are most relevant as you use Search. For example, to control the ads you see when you search, Google is also giving access to Ad Settings. Additionally, you can access your Activity Controls to decide what information Google saves to your account and uses to make Search and other Google services faster, smarter and more useful. Apple and Samsung fined $5.7 million each by Italian anti-trust watchdog over slowing down phones

Italy's anti-trust watchdog has fined Apple Inc and Samsung Electronics 5 million euros ($5.7 million) each over reports suggesting both the companies slowed down their phones through software updates. the Cupertino company was hit with an additional 5 million euro fine for failing to give clear information about how to maintain or eventually replace handset batteries. Italian consumer groups report that software updates for Apple and Samsung smartphones reduced the functionality of the devices and were designed to push users into buying new handsets. The anti-trust body said in a statement that some Apple and Samsung firmware updates “had caused serious dysfunctions and reduced performance significantly, thereby accelerating the process of replacing them”. Both the companies failed to provided users with adequate information about the impact of the new software “or any means of restoring the original functionality of the products”. Apple, however, acknowledged last year's iOS had slowed down some phones with battery problems but denied it had ever done anything to intentionally shorten the life of a product. The firm apologized for its actions and cut battery replacement costs. Samsung’s software updates for its phones have not previously been questioned.
