Google app hints at Assistant Households, setting default ‘Notes and List’ app and more

Google app is getting a new update and besides small tweaks, there is not much on the surface, but a tear down of the app reveals that Google resumed its work on allowing services to stand in for Notes and Lists functionality with Assistant. The recently re branded Discover section which is formerly Feed was not fully changed before this version. The navigation menu still had a section named Customized Feed until it was changed with the V8.24 version to Customize Discover. At the launch of Google Home, the company used 'Google Keep' as the automatic recipient of notes and lists. While this was pretty good, the implementation had a lot of bugs, but it was easy enough to open the Keep app to make manual changes if necessary. About a year and a half ago, Google moved the shopping list functionality to Google Express. A tear down of Google app suggested that notes and lists would soon allow third-party developers to register their own apps to fill this role. While there hasn't been much development, the new Google app tear down confirms the feature is still in development, but with no hint of the launch. Last few Google app updates have been slowly adding ...

Google News v5.5 brings dark theme to the entire app

Google's march towards dark theme continues as the company is now pushing the update to Google News after rolling out to YouTube, Android Messages, the new Google Discover feed, Gboard. The Google News update v5.5 update brings the much-hyped dark theme.  The dark theme in Google News can be found under Settings -> Dark theme. Since it is a toggle, you can always turn on or off, as well as have it automatically turn on with the battery saver and/or at night. Google might be using your location to judge when it is night time for you and change the theme accordingly. Google News used to show some articles in black background, but this update turns everything into the black. Apart from the black theme, the update doesn't appear to bring any other major changes except for some reorganization of the settings. Since the Play Store update might take a while, you can download the APK and side-load it. Via

Moto G7 with 6-inch FHD+ water-drop notch display surface in renders; G7 Power could arrive alongside G7 Play and G7 Plus

Lenovo-owned Motorola's upcoming launch will be the Moto G7-lineup since it just launched the G6 series earlier this year. The G7 series lineup will include the regular G7, G7 Plus variant, and G7 Power edition is also expected. While the specifications of its are still under the wraps, we now have our first look at the G7.  From the first look, it is quite evident that the G7 will packs a tear-drop notch on the top. Thanks to the 18:9 aspect ratio, the screen-to-body ratio of the G6 boast a higher screen-to-body ratio compared to its predecessor. The inclusion of a notch suggests that 2019 Motorola smartphones might also pack a similar design. Since G7 is a regular base variant, it has got a considerable amount of chin at the bottom. At the rear, the Moto G7 appears to feature a 3D curved glass back similar to the Moto X4. We also see dual-rear cameras on the back with features like Bokeh mode. Below the camera module is a fingerprint sensor that is embedded inside the Motorola logo. At the bottom, we find a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, and a speaker grille. The volume and power controls are present on the ...

Facebook Lite for iOS with less bandwidth, device storage released in Turkey

More than the iOS ecosystem, the app sizes is a big headache for iOS users as they weigh anywhere around 200-500MB and the update is almost equal to the original size. The Facebook app size is close to 500MB which takes a toll on those who are on limited data plans. To solve that issue, Facebook today has launched the Facebook Lite for iOS.  Facebook Lite was originally intended for people in developing countries where mobile data can be unreliable. The app was previously available for Android in certain countries, including the United States. The Facebook Lite for iOS is around 16.3MB size and is said to use less battery, bandwidth, and device storage. However, you can't download the app yet as it is just available in Turkey at the moment. Facebook often launches the products in select countries and expands them worldwide gradually. Facebook launched the Facebook Lite for Android in 2015 and has over 100 million downloads in 2016. It launched for Android in the United States earlier this year. If you are an iOS user from Turkey, you can download the Facebook Lite from App Store here. Source

LG V40 ThinQ and Watch W7 Hands On – Five Cameras and Two Hands

Earlier this week LG took the wraps off two new devices, its high-end phone offering in the V40 ThinQ and a hybrid smartwatch in the W7. I was on site and went hand on with both. I came away mostly impressed. Let's dive in. [caption id="attachment_265386" align="aligncenter" width="575"] Shot on LG V40 ThinQ[/caption] The star of the show was the V40 ThinQ, a smartphone which the company is dubbing “The 5 camera phone.” For good reason, since it does indeed have 5 cameras! This is clearly the selling point of this device, and they are again going after the creators with this years offering. They had some very prominent professional rock climbers on hand who they gave the phone early, and they came away with some impressive shots. After the announcement was finished we were allowed to play with the phones ourselves. They even had a faux building for us to climb with the Queensboro Bridge in the background, check it out, shot on the V40 ThinQ. Three of the five cameras live on the back of the phone, a telephoto, a wide-angle, and regular lens. That is three different focal lengths so you can frame your video or photos in any way ...

Huawei will be launching the Mate 20 series later this month, while we have been hearing rumors and leaks about the flagship on and off for quite some time, we don't have a concrete first look. However, that changes today, as the Mate 20 surfaces in press images revealing the flagship in its full form.  Mind you, we are seeing the Non-Pro variant, the regular Mate 20 which sports a 6.43-inch TFT LCD (2244x1080 pixels) display with nearly edge-edge bezels. It does have a waterdrop-notch where the selfie shooter is present and no laser sensor for facial recognition like the Mate 20 Pro. It is expected to pack 4/6/8GB RAM coupled with fast 64/128GB UFS 2.1 memory coupled with microSD card slot for memory expansion. The fingerprint sensor is present below the rear-camera module and not within the display. It has three rear cameras and a dual LED flash. The 40-megapixel main sensor of the P20 Pro is expected to return. The Mate 20 will have a 4000mAh battery which is rumored to be supported by the new 40-watt charger from Huawei. If rumors are to be believed, Huawei Mate 20 might not ...
