Meizu 16X with 6-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, Snapdragon 710, 6GB RAM, in-display fingerprint sensor gets certified

Soon after the announcement of the Meizu 16 and 16 Plus smartphones earlier this month, the Meizu 16X with the model number M872Q has been certified by TENAA in China. This is expected to feature Snapdragon 710 SoC instead of Snapdragon 845, while other specifications are expected to remain same, including an in-display fingerprint sensor. Xiaomi migrates Indian users’ data to local cloud infrastructure

Xiaomi today announced that it is migrating its Indian data to cloud service providers with infrastructure in India. This cover all Indian user data across Xiaomi e-commerce platform (mi.com/in), Mi Community (in.c.mi.com), Mi Cloud, MIUI (Xiaomi Market, feed, Mi Video, advertising, Mi Messaging, push notifications, etc) and Mi TV. It is using Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure infrastructure in India and the company said that all the existing data would be migrated by the end of 2018, while new Indian user data since 1 July is already being stored in local servers. All existing user data on mi.com/in will be fully migrated to servers in India by mid-September 2018. Prior to this these were stored in AWS servers across Singapore and the United States. Vodafone India, Idea Cellular merger complete; Vodafone Idea Limited becomes country’s biggest telecom operator

After signing agreements back in March last year, Vodafone India and Aditya Birla Group’s telecom arm Idea Cellular have announced that the merger has been completed. Idea Cellular has been renamed as ‘Vodafone Idea Limited’ and the service provider has subscriber base of over 408 million (as of June 2018) with 1 RMS in 9 circles, broadband network of 340,000 sites, and widest distribution reach with 1.7 million retail outlets. With 1850 MHz of total spectrum holding, over 200,000 unique GSM sites and ~235,000 km of fibre, the merged company offers superior voice and broadband connectivity across the country, covering 92% of the population and reaching nearly 500,000 towns and villages. Merger is expected to generate Rs. 140 billion annual synergy, including opex synergies of Rs. 84 billion, equivalent to a net present value of approximately Rs. 700 billion. The equity infusion of Rs. 67.5 billion at Idea and Rs. 86 billion at Vodafone coupled with monetization of standalone towers of both companies for an enterprise value of Rs. 78.5 billion, provides the company a strong cash balance of over Rs. 193 billion post payout of Rs. 39 billion to the DoT. Motorola has finally announced the Motorola One and One Power Android One smartphones at the IFA in Berlin. Both the phones have a large 19:9 aspect ratio display with a notch, but only One Power comes with a FHD+ display, while the Motorola One features an HD+ display and is powered by Snapdragon 625 SoC. Both the phones have dual rear cameras and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor with a Motorola logo. These run Android 8.0 (Oreo) and the company has promised Android 9.0 (Pie) update as well as Android Q update for the phones, as well as security updates for three years from the initial global launch date. Apple iPhone XS with 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED display and Apple Watch Series 4 with larger, edge-to-edge display surface

After Apple announced its exclusive event on September 12th, press images of the 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED models have surfaced, and these are expected to be called  iPhone XS. These are expected to come in new gold color option. Earlier rumors revealed that all the iPhone models will have a notch, Face ID with gesture-based control system and new A12 processor. Press image of the Apple Watch Series 4 has also surfaced revealing a large edge-to-edge display ~15% bigger compared to the Series 3, as well as minimal bezels around the watch display. It is also said to come with a new watch face capable of showing a lot of information. This analog watch face will show a total of eight complications around the time and within the clock hands. There is a new hole between the side button and Digital Crown, which could be a secondary microphone. It will also include a new Digital Crown and side button. Google Pixel 3 with 5.5-inch FHD+ display, Snapdragon 845, Android 9.0 Pie surfaces in live image

After several Pixel 3 XL leaks, we have live images of the Pixel 3, thanks to a Reddit user. This reveals no-notch design, dual front speaker, glass + metal back, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and more. The Reddit user who posted the image said that the device was part of a testing program through a carrier other than Verizon, even though earlier rumors said that it will be Verizon-exclusive. Screenshots show some of the specs including a 5.5-inch (2160 x 1080) 18:9 aspect ratio display, Snapdragon 845, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, Dual 8.1MP front cameras with f/1.8 and f/2.2 aperture, respectively, and a 2,915mAh battery, slightly smaller than the 3,430mAh battery on t. It is expected to come bundled with USB Type-C headphones as we had seen in the Pixel 3 XL leak.
