Xiaomi just launched the Mi A2 Android One smartphone in India at an event in Delhi. Xiaomi just launched Mi A2, the company’s latest Android One smartphone in India, as it had promised. It packs a 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 display, is powered by Snapdragon 660, has a 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.75 aperture, Sony IMX486 sensor along with a 20-megapixel secondary rear camera with Sony IMX376 sensor to capture depth information for portrait shots with AI, has intelligent scene detection and has auto sensor section . It also has the same 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 sensor for the front camera with soft LED flash and AI beautification. DishTV gets Amazon Alexa skills for voice-assisted TV viewing, content discovery
Dish TV today has launched its skill for Amazon Alexa in India. These skills will help users find programs and provide recommendations on programs, movies, sports, and music. With the help of Alexa, customers will now be able to enjoy voice-assisted TV viewing and content discovery. Once the skills are enabled, it allows users to interact with DishTV through voice commands and explore the vast content portfolio available on DishTV DTH platform. The DishTV Alexa Skill can be accessed on all Alexa-enabled devices such as Amazon Echo, Echo Plus, Echo Spot and Echo Dot. The skill can also be accessed with the Alexa app. Furthermore, users can also check their account related information such as current balance, switch-off date, and monthly recharge amount, avail pay-later service and raise a call-me request by asking Alexa. Users can enable the DishTV Skill using the Alexa app and it will assist users in searching a specific program on a channel, particular time of the show, top movies, TV shows and sports recommendations by DishTV. Samsung’s new roadmap hints at delay in Oreo update for mid-range Galaxy phones till 2019
Samsung never had a very good track of pushing updates to mid-range and budget segment phones and to further dent that, the company might have delayed the Oreo update roadmap. Samsung's new roadmap from the member's app says the update for many of the devices is expected to come out in early 2019. Though the earlier round map had mistakes with the timeline, the new updated schedule makes sense. The company has posted new dates for the update for devices that are yet to be updated to Oreo. Devices like the Galaxy C9 Pro, Galaxy C7 Pro, Galaxy A9 Pro, Galaxy J2 (2018), Galaxy Tab A (2017) and Galaxy On5 (2016) are now expected to get the Oreo update early January 2019. Owners of the Galaxy J7 Max and Galaxy J7 (2016) will have to wait for the update until the March 2019. But what's interesting is that the Galaxy J7 (2016) will be updated to Oreo which is its second major upgrade since Samsung only pushes out one major update to mid-range devices, this is a welcome change. Opera expands its built-in Cryptocurrency Wallet to desktop
Back in July, Opera announced that it testing Cryptowallet beta built into its Android app with support for Ethereum Web3 API. Following the positive feedback, Opera today is opening its PC browser to the mobile crypto wallet. This inclusion eliminates the need to install and set up a crypto wallet extension in their PC browser. Instead, they can connect their Opera PC browser with the crypto Wallet-enabled Opera mobile browser by simply scanning a QR code on their Opera PC browser. This will grant them access to their mobile wallet with cryptocurrencies and collectibles. The phone's secure system lock will be used to store the keys. This will allow people to sign transactions with their fingerprints instead of using long passphrases. Opera says the Crypto wallet in Opera for Android is a user-controlled wallet, which means that the keys controlling the funds and assets are stored on the user’s phone. It supports tokens and collectibles. Collectibles are digital, unique “assets” you can own on a public blockchain. Virgin Hyperloop One signs deal to open first development facility in Spain
Virgin Hyperloop One today announced that it has signed an agreement with Administrator of Railway Infrastructures to open an Advanced Technology Development and Testing Center in the Andalusian region of Spain. The company’s first European development facility is valued at approximately US$ 500 million. As returns for this investment, Virgin Hyperloop One would obtain 126 million Euros in public aid through loans and grants to help establish the new center, to advance Virgin Hyperloop One’s technology development and testing. The Virgin Hyperloop One Advanced Technology Development and Testing Center will be located in the Andalusian region of Spain at Bobadilla, in the province of Malaga. The new center in Andalusia complements the advanced transportation, aerospace, and high-tech innovation in the Andalusian region and will be a catalyst for further economic growth. Virgin Hyperloop One estimates that it would hire 200-300 high-tech skilled professionals and that the center would spur job creation in a broad ecosystem of partners and suppliers in the region. Gmail for Android and iOS now lets you turn off conversation view
Google is finally adding an option to Gmail for Android and iOS that lets you disable Conversation view. Replies to emails are usually grouped together as “conversations,” to make them easier to follow, while some prefer to see each of their emails listed individually in their inbox. There's is a possibility for this on the web by toggling “Conversation View” off in the Settings menu. Now, Google is bringing this feature to the Gmail Android and iOS apps. If you turn off the Conversation view on the web, it will be turned off on your mobile app as well. Conversation view essentially allows users to better manage emails grouping relevant emails together, but in case you wish to turn it off, you can now. To access this feature, open the Gmail Android app, click on the menu icon in the top-left corner, scroll down to Settings and then click on ‘General Settings’ and under “Manage notifications”you will find the new “Conversation view” tab.
