OnePlus 5 and 5T OxygenOS beta update brings Google Lens support in camera, image quality improvements

OnePlus has released new beta updates (Beta 14 for the OnePlus 5 and Open Beta 12 for OnePlus 5T) for the OnePlus 5 and 5T smartphones that finally brings  support for Google Lens support. It also brings image quality improvements and optimizations to reduce oil painting effect. The smartphones got support for Project Treble in the previous OxygenOS beta update earlier this month. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 with 6.9-inch FHD+ display, 5500mAh battery teased in images ahead of July 19 announcement

Last week Xiaomi confirmed that it will unveil the Mi Max 3 smartphone in China on July 19th. Today Xiaomi co-founder and President Bin Lin has shared images of the smartphone in Blue Black and Gold colors. He said that even though the phone has a large 6.9-inch screen, the phone doesn't feel big in hand. He also said that the 5500mAh battery will offer long battery life. Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Android One smartphone confirmed to be announced alongside Mi A2 on July 24

Last week Xiaomi sent out invites for the global launch of a new smartphone in Spain on July 24th. Yesterday the company started teasing the launch of the successor of Mi A1 smartphone. Today, the company said that it will be launching two smartphones at the event, as expected. The second smartphone that will join the Mi A2 will be the Mi A2 Lite, the global version of the Redmi 6 Pro which was introduced last month, and even passed through the FCC  recently. Emporio Armani connected Wear OS smartwatch with 1.19-inch AMOLED display, Snapdragon 2100 announced

Emporio Armani today has announced the latest-generation connected Wear OS smartwatch with touchscreens. It packs a 1.19-inch AMOLED display and is powered by the aging Snapdragon 2100. They come with smart features like Google Assistant and Google Pay. Furthermore, Emporio Armani connected Wear OS smartwatch packs heart rate tracking, water resistance, and a built-in GPS sensor for fitness tracking. The Smartwatch will use the Tic Health app and Mobvoi's app store in China, though it is made by Fossil group. It packs a new 'Swimproof Technology' which allows the user to take shower, swim, and dive up to 3 ATM. It also comes with an NFC chip for Google Pay transaction and in China, it will offer Alipay and the Mobvoi Assistant instead. It is compatible with both iPhone and Android phones. The stainless steel casing comes in silver, black, and rose gold. Strap options include single link bracelets, as well as leather and mesh. Netflix reports 40.3% growth YoY, adds 5.2 million new users in Q2 2018

Netflix today announced its revenue for Q2 2018 where the company has added 5.2 million new users, the same as Q2 last year, but lower than the 6.2 million forecast. The total revenue (including DVD) of the company came to $3,907 million which is a solid 40.3% growth YoY. It also reported an operating revenue of $462 million with an operating margin of 11.8%. On the other hand, the revenue (streaming) of the company came $3,814 million that is a 42.8% YoY growth. The total income generated from the US is around $1,893 million, while the international streaming resulted in $1,921 million in the Q2 2018, while it is forecasting a $1,970 million for Q3 2018. The company says that streaming revenue in Q2 rose 43% YoY and it is driven by a 26% and 14% increase in average paid memberships and ASP, respectively. The operating margin of 11.8% expanded 720 bps year over year, resulting in 262% growth in operating income. Microsoft today is rolling out a new update to Skype for the desktop that brings the version to 8.0 replacing Skype version 7.0. This update replaces Skype Classic. The new features to skype 8.0 include free HD video and screen sharing calls, chat media gallery, share photos, videos, and other files, and more.  The new free HD video and screen sharing calls lets you connect with 1 or 24 of your friends, families, or colleagues no matter what device they use. It allows for video calling in high-definition 1080px video. It allows for more productive messaging through the use of @mentions to easily grab someone’s attention in a group chat. World Emoji Day: Apple previews over 70 new emojis including redhead, lobster, cupcakes, superhero that are coming to iOS devices

Apple on the occasion of 'World Emoji Day' announced that more than 70 new emoji characters are coming to iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac later this year via software update. These new emojis are based on the approved characters from Unicode 11.0.  The new Emojis include more hair options to better represent people with red hair, gray hair and curly hair, a new emoji for bald people, and new smiley face with a cold face, party face, pleading face and a face with hearts. Furthermore, wide-range of animal emojis including kangaroo, peacock, parrot, and lobster, with the addition of new food emoji for mango, lettuce, cupcake, moon cake and other popular items will be joining. Many additional characters across sports, symbols and more will launch later this year, including a new superhero emoji, a softball, Nazar amulet and infinity symbol. Samsung introduces world’s first 8Gb LPDDR5 10nm-class DRAM for mobile devices, 8GB LPDDR5 RAM coming soon

Earlier this year Samsung introduced the first 10nm-class 16Gb GDDR6 DRAM as well as 16Gb DDR5 DRAM. Today the company has introduced the first 10-nanometer (nm) class 8-gigabit (Gb) LPDDR5 DRAM as the successor to the 8Gb LPDDR4 DRAM that was introduced back in 2014 and 8GB LPDDR4 RAM mass production started in 2016. Samsung said that LPDDR5 standard will be used in upcoming 5G and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered mobile applications. Truecaller introduces ‘Call Recording’ premium feature for Android

Truecaller has rolled out new features to its premium users, it includes new 'Call Recording' for Android users. This will help users to keep track of important conversations they have with businesses, colleagues, and people. As for how the feature works, when a Premium user dials or receives a call, they can toggle on the recording feature from the Truecaller Caller ID screen and all the recordings are then stored on the user’s phone. The company says that users who do not have a Premium subscription can try Call Recording for free on a 14-day trial. To make it clear, Truecaller says that call recordings are stored locally on the user’s phone and do not touch Truecaller’s servers. Samsung Galaxy S10 in 5.8-inch, 6.1-inch and 6.4-inch models, triple rear cameras, in-display fingerprint scanner said to be unveiled at MWC 2019

Apple is widely anticipated to launch three new iPhones later this year including a second-generation 5.8-inch iPhone X, a larger 6.46-inch iPhone X Plus, and a 6.1-inch model with iPhone X like feature. Now in order to compete with Apple, Samsung is also said to be planning on launching 5.8-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.4-inch models, according to Ming-Chi Kuo. Furthermore, the 6.1-inch and 6.4-inch models might be equipped with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner. It will become available in the Galaxy Note 10 later in 2019, according to the research note. This news comes two weeks after both the companies settled on a seven-year-long lawsuit where Samsung was found guilty of copying the iPhone's design.
