Xiaomi schedules global launch event in Spain on July 24, Mi A2 Android One smartphone expected

After launching the global Mi Explorer program to offer its fans a chance to travel to Spain, Xiaomi has officially scheduled its global launch event in Spain, Madrid on July 24, where it is expected to introduce the Mi A2, the global version of the Mi 6X which was introduced  back in April. According to a recently-leaked video, which was removed later, the phone is said to have similar specifications as the Mi 6X, but will come with a 3.5mm audio jack. However it is not clear if the smartphone will feature a microSD card slot which the Mi 6X doesn't have. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 with 6.9-inch FHD+ display, 6GB RAM, 5400mAh battery to be announced on July 19

Xiaomi just sent out invites for the announcement of its Mi Max 3 smartphone in China on July 19th. The company said that it will have a large screen and a huge battery. It was teased by the company's CEO last week. The phone got certified by TENAA recently which revealed a 6.99-inch Full HD+ 18:9 aspect ratio screen,  1.8GHz Octa-Core SoC (Should be Snapdragon 636) with up to 6GB of RAM, Android 8.1 (Oreo), 12-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX363 sensor, along with a secondary rear camera with AI portraits. The phone is said to feature a metal body, fingerprint sensor on the back and a 5400mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 using the bundled 18W charger. Xiaomi disables downgrading MIUI 10 ROM on Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 5, Here’s why

Xiaomi is amongst the manufacturers which allow users to switch between different MIUI ROMs without worrying much about the warranty, users can upgrade/downgrade MIUI ROMs on their devices using Fastboot and Updater method. At Google I/O, Google announced rollback protection feature, and now Xiaomi has announced that it will no longer allow Redmi Note 5 Pro/ Redmi Note 5 users to downgrade MIUI Stable and Beta ROM after you have updated to MIUI 10 Public ROM 8.7.5 or later. A post by an admin on MIUI Forum says, To maintain system stability and ensure the security of the device, we have introduced a mechanism of anti-rollback. After you have updated to MIUI 10 Public ROM 8.7.5 or ROM afterwards, you can not downgrade your ROM to previous Stable ROM and Beta ROM.  If you have already updated your device to MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM 8.7.5 or ROM afterwards, please don't try to downgrade the ROM of your device. Otherwise, your device will be bricked, which may also affect your device stability. Sony Mobile just announced Xperia XA2 Plus, a larger version of the Xperia XA2, which was announced at the CES 2018. It has a 6-inch 1080p screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, is powered by Snapdragon 630 with up to 6GB of RAM, runs Android 8.0 (Oreo), comes with a 23-megapixel rear camera with 1/2.3″ Exmor RS sensor, Hybrid Autofocus and LED flash and an 8-megapixel front camera with 120-degree wide-angle lens. It also has support for Hi-Res Audio and Smart Amplifier, making it the first mid-range Sony smartphone to get the feature. Itel expected to launch new smartphone with full-screen display, dual rear cameras this month

Itel is said to launch a new smartphone in India later this month with dual rear camera and 18:9 aspect ratio display. The image reveals a fingerprint sensor on the back. The company launched the itel S42 and itel A44 smartphones with a full-screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio back in March this year. The smartphone which is said to be called the Itel A62, is expected to come with face unlock feature as well as Bokeh mode to capture portrait shots. It is expected to feature a 5.6-inch screen with 18:9 aspect ratio, powered by 1.3GHz processor, run Android 8.1 (Oreo) and a 3,000mAh battery. It is said to be priced around Rs. 7500. The specifications look decent on paper, but we have to check out the phone to know more about the performance and camera quality. We should know more details about the smartphone when it goes official in the next two weeks.

Snapchat Lens Explorer lets you browse community filters

Snapchat back at the end of 2017 launched the Snap Studio and also introduced a new way for people to build their own lenses. Today the company is introducing a new way to find those lenses inside the app; it calls Lens Explorer. This shows a variety of lenses in a variety of ways. Furthermore, the company says that since the launch of Lens Studio in late 2017, creators have submitted over 100,000 unique Lenses through the tool, which have been viewed by Snapchatters over 2.5 billion times. Thanks to Lens Explorer, Community Lenses will for the first time be discoverable alongside the main Lens Carousel, offering Snapchatters even more Lenses. To get started with the Lens Explorer, tap the new smiley face icon that appears when the Lens Carousel is active. Tap a Lens tile to unlock a Lens and be taken directly to the Snap Camera or browse through the featured  Stories. Unlock a Lens by swiping up on Snaps in these Stories.
