Xiaomi MIUI 10 with AI portraits, Driving Mode, improved full-screen gestures and more announced, beta roll out begins in June

At the Mi 8 launch event, Xiaomi has also introduced the MIUI 10 which is its own proprietary operating system over Android. The new MIUI 10 comes with Xiaomi's Ai voice assistant along with full-screen hand gestures and improved recent menu that will take advantage of the full-screen bezel-less displays.  The company is introducing a new Driving Mode that takes full advantage of the Xiao Ai voice assistant to control the smartphone in a car, so users can safely use features such as navigating to a location and reply messages without touching the phone. It introduced a series of easy-to-use full-screen hand gestures which replaces the virtual on-screen buttons along with other additions like more content in the tiled taskbar and improved swiping gestures. Interestingly the company is giving a huge boost to older Xiaomi smartphones with single-lens cameras by bringing AI bokeh effects, aka portrait shots through MIUI 10 even without a dual camera setup. Following the AI bandwagon, Xiaomi is also focusing too much on AI-assisted features that are aimed at making the UI more helpful and user-friendly. Xiaomi Mi 8 SE with 5.88-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, Snapdragon 710, 6GB RAM, AI dual rear cameras announced

Xiaomi just announced Mi 8 SE along with the Mi 8 and the Mi 8 Explorer Edition at an event in China. It comes with a 5.88-inch FHD+ AMOLED display from Samsung with a notch 86.12% screen-to-body ratio, is powered by the latest Snapdragon 710 with up to 6GB of RAM, runs Android 8.1 (Oreo) with MIUI 9, has a 12-megapixel rear camera along with a 5-megapixel secondary rear camera to capture depth information for portrait shots with AI and also has intelligent scene detection. It also has the same 20-megapixel front camera with AI portraits and AI beautification and uses pixel binning technology, combining the information from four pixels to create one large 2.0µm pixel. It has a 2.5D glass body, fingerprint sensor on the back and packs a 3120mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. Samsung Galaxy S10 said to feature Qualcomm’s ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor

The Galaxy S10 is Samsung's 10th-anniversary flagship smartphone that will be launching early next year. While a bunch of reports suggested that the S10 might feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, nothing has been confirmed officially. However, a report from ETNews suggests that Samsung more or less has confirmed that the S10 might finally pack an in-display fingerprint sensor. Since it is a 10th-anniversary flagship, the company is said to be going all out with it. The latest update adds that Samsung will be using Qualcomm's ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor. A couple of months ago we heard that Samsung is said to decide on in-display fingerprint sensor very soon and now it appears the company has made a final decision on the matter. Latest we hear is that the company has “confirmed” about the inclusion of the feature to its industry partners and that it has decided to adopt the in-display fingerprint sensor for the Galaxy S10. OnePlus 6 face unlock reportedly can be tricked with a printed photo

Since Apple introduced Face ID with the iPhone X, the feature has become a rage among Android phones. In fact, OnePlus 5T was among the initial adopters of the feature. Xiaomi just announced its flagship Mi 8 smartphone at an event in China, as it had promised. It has a 6.21-inch FHD+ AMOLED display from Samsung with a notch and 88.5% screen-to-body ratio. It has a glass back with an  unique water drop arc design, four curved glass body with 7 series aluminum frame. It is powered by Snapdragon 845 with up to 8GB of RAM  and runs Android 8.1 (Oreo) with MIUI on top. It has a 12-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX363 sensor, 1.4µm pixel size, OIS, Dual Pixel auto focus and a secondary 12-megapixel rear camera for AI portraits  has AI scene recognition. The 20-megapixel front camera has support for AI portrait selfies with real-time background blur, AI Studio Light Effect, and the phone also has face unlock, which uses an infrared sensor and lens that works even in dark by scanning 4096 facial points. Google expands Project Fi phone line-up with Moto G6, LG V35 ThinQ and G7 ThinQ

Google’s ‘Just a Line’ AR doodling app now lets Android and iOS users collaborate

Google released Just a Line' AR doodling app back in March; this app lets you draw in the air with your phone. Today the company is further experimenting with a version for iPhone, along with a new feature for both Android and iOS that lets you draw with a friend. Meaning, the app now lets two people create doodles together at the same time across Android and iOS. To connect with friend, you have to open the app, place two phones side-by-side and tap the partner icon. Once the phones are connected, you and your partner will be able to see, and contribute to, the same drawing. Google previewed this feature at the I/O 2018 event earlier this month. Google today announced that it will hold Google Search Conference across 11 cities in India starting from June till August.
