Update: Google has rebranded the Google Play Newsstand and released it as Google News for Android and iOS. If you already have Google Play Newsstand, you would have received an update, if not you can get it from Google Play Store or  the App Store. Microsoft Surface Hub 2 with 50.5-inch 4K display announced

Microsoft has announced the Surface Hub 2 and it is designed from the ground up that can be used by teams. The company says that it is sleek, agiler and more affordable to fit any workspace or work style. It sports a 50.5-inches 4K multi-touch display with 3:2 aspect ratio and extremely thin bezels. The giant display now rotates to a portrait position and it works as a powerhouse to Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Whiteboard, Office 365, Windows 10 and the intelligent cloud. It also comes with 4K cameras rotate with the device, integrated speakers, and far-field mic arrays allow everyone in the meeting to feel. Microsoft has teamed up with workplace expert Steelcase to create a system of rolling stands and easy-to-use mounts. HTC Exodus native blockchain phone for secure cryptocurrency trading coming soon

HTC has announced that it is planning to launch an Android phone that will come built-in with blockchain technology. The phone is named Exodus and it will feature universal wallet and a built-in secure hardware that support cryptocurrencies and decentralized applications (DApp). HTC has roped in Phil Chen; the creator of its virtual reality headset Vive, who will now be responsible for all blockchain and cryptocurrency related to HTC's Exodus. It is also reported that the company is planning on creating anative blockchain network that will use all the Exodus phones as nodes to facilitate cryptocurrency trading among the phone users. Interestingly, HTC also said to be working on accepting cryptocurrency as a form of payment for the phone, however, the price of the phone has not been decided just yet. HTC isn't the first company to launch the blockchain powered phone, Sirin Labs announced blockchain smartphone last September, it is slated to be released in October this year. Twitter to start hiding Tweets from trolls in conversations and search

Twitter back in March introduced a new approach to improve the health of the public conversation on Twitter. Since then it has been working on what one refers to as “trolls,” which is behavior is fun, good and humorous. Today the company is taking actions against such trolls that distort and detract from the public conversation on Twitter. Twitter feels that some of these accounts and Tweets violate the policies, and, in those cases, it is vouching to take action on them. It is said to be using policies, human review processes, and machine learning to determine how Tweets are organized and presented in communal places like conversations and search. It is tackling behaviors that distort and detract from the public conversation in those areas by integrating new behavioral signals into how Tweets are presented. Twitter is taking is taking in many new signals most of which are not visible externally, like accounts with not confirmed email, or if the same person signs up for multiple accounts simultaneously, accounts that repeatedly Tweet and mention accounts that don’t follow them, or behavior that might indicate a coordinated attack. Facebook took down 837 million spam posts, 583 million fake accounts in Q1 2018

Facebook for the first time is publishing the number of Community Standards Enforcement Reports that it has got. This report covers the enforcement efforts between October 2017 to March 2018, touches areas like graphic violence, adult nudity and sexual activity, terrorist propaganda, hate speech, spam, and fake accounts. Furthermore, it covers How much content people saw that violates the standards, how much content is removed, and how much content is detected proactively using Facebook's technology before reporting. Facebook says that most of the action it takes to remove bad content is around spam and the fake accounts they use to distribute it. It took down 837 million posts that are spam in Q1 2018 which is nearly 100% of which we found and flagged before anyone reported it. The key to fight spam is taking down the fake accounts that spread it. Facebook deleted over 583 million fake accounts most of which were disabled within minutes of registration. It estimates that around 3 to 4% of the active Facebook accounts on the site during this period were still fake. It also took down 21 million pieces of adult nudity and sexual activity, 3.5 million pieces of violent content in Q1 2018. Facebook Messenger gets new reporting tools

Facebook's Messenger platform never had any means of reporting content that violates any policies within the app except via the Facebook reporting tools or Messenger web. Today the company is giving access to the reporting tool directly from any Messenger conversation on iOS or Android. https://ift.tt/2KrS7iF To report, you can tap the name of the person or group with whom you’re having a conversation; scroll to 'Something’s Wrong' and then select from several categories such as harassment, hate speech, or pretending to be someone else. Furthermore, you can also choose to ignore or block the person you are reporting. Facebook will send a confirmation after you submit your report. This should make it easier and faster to report things for Facebook's Community Operations team to review. They review reports in over 50 languages. WhatsApp gets new admin controls, group catch up, group participant search and more

WhatsApp is rolling out a bunch of new features to groups including Group description, new Admin controls, Group catch up, and Participant search. WhatsApp rolled out group description back in March, and now for every new participant who joins the group; the description will show up at the top of the chat. The group description can be anything be it setting the purpose, guidelines, or topics for the group. More admin controls; in the group settings, there are new controls that allow admins to restrict who can change the group's subject, icon, and description. In case you are away from group chat for a while, now you can quickly catch up on messages that mention or reply to you by tapping on a new @ button that appears at the bottom right corner of the chat. You can search for participants info from the group info page. Admins can now remove admin permissions of other group participants, but the group creators can't be removed from the group they started. WhatsApp's new features will be available on Android and iOS from today.
