Google revamps Gmail with Smart Replies, confidential mode, priority notifications and more [Update: ‘Nudge’ respond reminders now rolling out]

Update: Google has started rolling out respond reminder feature that will 'nudge' users to reply to emails they may have missed and to follow up on emails for which they haven’t received a response. This is enabled by default for users with the new Gmail enabled, but you can can turn it off from the Gmail settings menu. Google was spotted testing new improved Gmail feature like smart replies a few days ago and today the company started pushing the revamped Gmail for the web. The improved Gmail web brings the ability to click on attachments like photos without opening or scrolling through large conversations, new snooze button to put off emails, and more. Gmail also nudges you to follow up and respond to messages with quick reminders that appear next to your email messages so that you don't miss out on anything. Much like Gmail for iOS and Android, Web also gets Smart Replies that help you reply to messages faster. it also notifies you of high-priority notifications, can notify you of important messages to help you stay focused. Huawei's Honor brand is all set to introduce the Honor 10 smartphone globally at an event in London tomorrow, and the company already said that the phone will go on sale in India on May 16th. Now Honor India has sent out invite for the launch of its budget Honor 7C smartphone in India on May 22nd. Even though the invite doesn't mention the name of the phone, the teaser image clearly shows the design and the dual rear cameras of the phone. The phone is a direct competitor to the Redmi 5 that was launched earlier this year starting at Rs. 7999. Since the Honor 7X is exclusively to Amazon.in the 7C might go the same route. Airtel completes acquisition of Telenor India

Airtel today announced that it has completed the acquisition Telenor India, after a year of entering into an agreement to acquire Telenor India’s running operations in seven circles – Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, UP (East), UP (West) and Assam, and transfer of all of Telenor India’s assets including spectrum, licenses and operations, including its employees and customer base of 44 million as well as outstanding spectrum payments and other operational contracts, including tower lease. Airtel will add 43.4 MHz spectrum (5 MHz to 7.2 MHz in each of the seven circles) to its portfolio that will further bolster its network capacity and enhance customer experience. With the completion of this transaction, Airtel’s total mobile customer base in India now stands at over 330 million. All existing customers of Telenor India will now become a part of Airtel. "All the customers will be transitioned seamlessly to the Airtel network and will continue to enjoy uninterrupted services with the Same SIM, Same Number, and Same Plan/Pack benefits," said Airtel. Samsung Galaxy S10 might feature an in-display fingerprint sensor

In-display fingerprint sensors are slowly catching up with tier one brands like Huawei, Vivo included the tech, and it's about time Samsung jump in on the bandwagon as well. Adding to the speculation that the 10th anniversary model of Samsung’s flagship series might be a standout, in-display fingerprint sensor. While some report claims that this year's Note 9 might in-display fingerprint sensor, Samsung is aiming to include the in-display fingerprint sensor only next-year with the Galaxy S10. However, it was reported that Samsung would make a final decision on this shortly and it now looks like the company has made a decision. Huawei Watch 2 2018 water-resistant Wear OS smartwatch with 1.2-inch AMOLED display surfaces

Huawei is expected to launch the new Watch 2 2018 edition sometime this year, and today the wearable has surfaced on the internet, thanks to famous leakster Evan Blass. It will sport a 1.2-inch AMOLED display and will be powered by the Snapdragon 2100. [HTML1] The Huawei Watch 2 comes with AMOLED display with 390x390 resolution and 326PPI. It packs 768MB RAM and 4GB storage, and a 420mAh battery. Connectivity features include Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi (b/g/n), GPS, eSIM, and has IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, heart rate, capacitance, ambient light, geomagnetic. Going by the leaked images, the Watch seems to have a bunch of Watch faces to customize the look. Coolpad files two lawsuits against Xiaomi over patent litigation in China

Coolpad has announced that its unit has filed lawsuits against three group firms of Xiaomi for several patent Infringements. The company's subsidiary, Yulong Computer Telecommunication Scientific (Shenzhen) Co. Limited has filed a lawsuit against Xiaomi Telecom Technology Co, Xiaomi Technology Co, and Xiaomi Factory Co, in a court in Jiangsu province for using its patents without authorization. Yulong demands that Xiaomi companies should immediately stop the sale and production of some of the smartphone models, including the Xiaomi Mi 6, Mi Max 2, Mi Note 3, Mi 5X, Redmi Note 4X and Mi MIX 2. Going back in time, Yulong had filed a similar legal case against Xiaomi in a Shenzhen court in January 2018 as well. The patents involved in this lawsuit include systematic interactions or UI type patents. They all involve basic communication, display and interactive functions of mobile phones, and are difficult to circumvented or replaced. Furthermore, the company is also alleging that Xiaomi has violated its patented multi-SIM card design and other technology related to user interface. It is now demanding that Xiaomi compensate it for losses due to the alleged infringement. Smartphone shipments up 11% YoY in Q1 2018 in India, Xiaomi continues to lead with 30.3% share: IDC

According to IDC, Indian smartphone shipments reached 30 million units in Q1 2018 and has seen a healthy 11% YoY growth, but it remained flat when compared to the previous quarter; Q4 2017. As expected Xiaomi retained the top position for the second quarter in a row.  The company has expanded its offline channel and popularity of its models such as Redmi 5A and Redmi Note 5. The Online smartphone segment has seen a growth from 34.2% in Q4 2017 to 36% in Q1 2018. Xiaomi increased its share of total eTailer shipments from 32% a year ago to 53% in Q1 2018. As for the offline segment, Transsion continued to drive growth through its brands itel and Tecno, thanks to its aggressive expansion to smaller towns & cities by focusing on channel management and after-sales service. The flagship or the high-end segment saw a strong YoY growth of 68% thanks to the Samsung's Galaxy S9 series which arrived a quarter earlier this year and led with a 77% share in this segment.
