Apple iPhone X world’s best-selling with 16 million shipments in Q1 2018: Report
Earlier this week IDC reported that global smartphone shipments reached a total of 334.3 million units during the first quarter of 2018. Now Strategy Analytics has reported that global smartphone shipments reached 345 million units in Q1 2018. Despite the claims of being on the costlier side, the Apple's iPhone X becomes the best selling model with shipping touching an impressive 16 million units during the quarter. As for the Android side of things, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus retained the world’s top-selling Android smartphone models position. The top-six most popular models together accounted for 1 in 7 of all smartphones shipped worldwide during the quarter. The Xiaomi Redmi 5A shipped 5.4 million units and grabbed the fifth place and accounted for 2% market share worldwide in Q1 2018. A good 5.3 million Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus units were shipped in Q1 2018 and restricted its place to sixth place and accounted for 2% market share worldwide in Q1 2018. Airtel TV Free Hit interactive quiz game launched, offers cash prize of up to 2 crores
After Reliance Jio, Airtel today has announced the launch of ‘Airtel TV Free Hit’interactive gamification experience for its users. It is an in-app quiz based game where users have to answer a set of questions related to the ongoing T20 action. Airtel is also offering daily cash prizes from a total of over two crore rupees. The Airtel TV Free Hit gaming experience is available to users in two versions; Airtel TV Free Hit LIVE that users can play every day before the T20 match at 7:30 pm and a non-LIVE version that can be played along the with the T20 match telecast. However, users will have to upgrade the app first and register themselves. For now, Airtel TV FREE Hit is available to Android, and the company didn't mention anything about iOS roll out. The game also offers 'life' which comes in handy evading users from elimination during the course of T20 matches. Chinese smartphone maker iVOOMi has launched FitMe, a fitness band that has option to indicate Air Quality Index (AQI) or pollution, which tells you how clean or unhealthy the air around you is, so that you can take necessary steps to prevent the associated health hazards. This feature provides information on AQI across all Indian cities. The FitMe Health Band also provides information about the weather conditions. It has IP67 ratings for water-resistance and has a 0.87” OLED scratch-proof display. Details about the LG V35 ThinQ, an upgraded version of the V30S ThinQ surfaced last month, and @evleaks said that the V35 ThinQ code-named Emma will be introduced around the same time as the G7 ThinQ. Now the G7 ThinQ is official, A&T confirmed that they would not carry this phone, but will launch another phone this Summer, which will likely be the V35 ThinQ. Last month Apple announced that the Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) will be launched in India on May 11th with pre-orders starting from May 4th. Today Reliance Jio has started pre-orders for it on its website. Airtel has started pre-registrations for the new Apple Watch, and says that it the bookings will begin on May 11th. GoPro Fusion waterproof 360-degree 5.2K Spherical camera launched in India for Rs. 60000
GoPro introduced Fusion, a 360-degree camera that can record 5.2K 360-spherical videos at 30Fps or 3.2K videos at 60fps back in September last year. Today the company has launched the camera in India. It has built-in, gimbal-like stabilization for super smooth videos and the new Mobile OverCapture allows users to create traditional video from a spherical footage. It comes with an 18-megapixel sensor that can capture spherical images and videos with 360-degree audio. It is designed to withstand any shooting environment since it is waterproof up to 5 meters and also has support for voice controls in 10 languages. When paired with the GoPro App, Fusion becomes an end-to-end solution going from capture to edit and share with ease. The GoPro App enables users to control the Fusion camera, live preview shots, and stitch, trim and share content right from their devices. Google’s advanced protection program now expands access to Apple native apps
Back in October 2017, Google launched advanced protection program, which is its strongest level of account security, and today Google announced that it is bringing Advanced Protection to Apple’s native applications on iOS devices, including Apple Mail, Calendar, and Contacts. This allows iOS users to enroll in the program without having to adjust how they use Google services on their Apple devices. The Advanced Protection places automatic limits on which apps can gain access to your Google data and protect from accidentally sharing any kinds of sensitive data with fraudulent apps or web services. Before this new update, Google applications were able to access your data if you were enrolled in the program, but after today's announcement, you can allow Apple’s native iOS applications to access your Gmail, Calendar, and Contacts data. This means that from now when you sign into iOS native applications with your Google account, it will show you instructions on how you wish to complete the sign-in process. Walmart said to acquire 73% of Flipkart valued at $16 billion, Alphabet might pitch in $3 billion
Reports and rumors about Walmart acquiring Flipkart go back to a couple of months where Walmart was said to acquire about 40% of Flipkart. A couple of weeks back, it is again reported that Walmart said to acquire 51% stake in Flipkart. Freshly we hear that Walmart might get hold of 73% of Flipkart valued at $16 billion. Walmart is said to have sealed the deal on May 3rd spending at least $14.6 billion in the cash-and-stock buyout. According to the report, one of the sources said that Flipkart was valued at $20 billion, while other sources said Walmart had put the target company’s value at as much as $22 billion, a price at which it will spend more than $16 billion. In an interesting move, Alphabet, parent company of Google is also said to be participating in the deal with a $3 billion investment. It is also heard that both the companies have signed tentative agreements after meetings.
