Apple Watch Series 3 with built-in cellular connectivity now available for pre-order in India starting at Rs. 39080

Last month Apple announced that the Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) will be launched in India on May 11th with pre-orders starting from May 4th. Today Reliance Jio has started pre-orders for it on its website. Airtel has started pre-registrations for the new Apple Watch, and says that it the bookings will begin on May 11th. This uses an eSIM, so you don’t require a separate SIM. Reliance Jio is offering JioEverywhereConnect service that allows you to use the same Jio number on both your iPhone and the Apple Watch. The JioEverywhereConnect service will be available at no extra cost to iPhone users. The Apple Watch Series 3 has an upgraded dual-core processor offering 70% faster performance, new W2 wireless chip offering 85% faster WiFi performance, 50% efficient Bluetooth connectivity, Water resistant body, and up to 18 hours of battery life. GoPro Fusion waterproof 360-degree 5.2K Spherical camera launched in India for Rs. 60000

GoPro introduced Fusion, a 360-degree camera that can record 5.2K 360-spherical videos at 30Fps or 3.2K videos at 60fps back in September last year. Today the company has launched the camera in India. It has built-in, gimbal-like stabilization for super smooth videos and the new Mobile OverCapture allows users to create traditional video from a spherical footage. It comes with an 18-megapixel sensor that can capture spherical images and videos with 360-degree audio. It is designed to withstand any shooting environment  since it is waterproof up to 5 meters and also has support for voice controls in 10 languages. When paired with the GoPro App, Fusion becomes an end-to-end solution going from capture to edit and share with ease. The GoPro App enables users to control the Fusion camera, live preview shots, and stitch, trim and share content right from their devices. The OverCapture feature allows users to re-frame and save traditional fixed-perspective videos "punched out" from the large 360-degree video. The GoPro Fusion is priced at Rs. 60,000 and is available across GoPro’s multiple retail partner channels including select Croma stores and other photo specialist stores across India.

Google’s advanced protection program now expands access to Apple native apps

Back in October 2017, Google launched advanced protection program, which is its strongest level of account security, and today Google announced that it is bringing Advanced Protection to Apple’s native applications on iOS devices, including Apple Mail, Calendar, and Contacts. This allows iOS users to enroll in the program without having to adjust how they use Google services on their Apple devices. The Advanced Protection places automatic limits on which apps can gain access to your Google data and protect from accidentally sharing any kinds of sensitive data with fraudulent apps or web services. Before this new update, Google applications were able to access your data if you were enrolled in the program, but after today's announcement, you can allow Apple’s native iOS applications to access your Gmail, Calendar, and Contacts data. This means that from now when you sign into iOS native applications with your Google account, it will show you instructions on how you wish to complete the sign-in process. Walmart said to acquire 73% of Flipkart valued at $16 billion, Alphabet might pitch in $3 billion

Reports and rumors about Walmart acquiring Flipkart go back to a couple of months where Walmart was said to acquire about 40% of Flipkart. A couple of weeks back, it is again reported that Walmart said to acquire 51% stake in Flipkart. Freshly we hear that Walmart might get hold of 73% of Flipkart valued at $16 billion. Walmart is said to have sealed the deal on May 3rd spending at least $14.6 billion in the cash-and-stock buyout. According to the report, one of the sources said that Flipkart was valued at $20 billion, while other sources said Walmart had put the target company’s value at as much as $22 billion, a price at which it will spend more than $16 billion. In an interesting move, Alphabet, parent company of Google is also said to be participating in the deal with a $3 billion investment. Chrome OS Linux app support now rolling out on Dev channel

A couple of weeks back there were reports about the Terminal app being spotted in Chrome OS hinting at future Linux application support. With less than a week to Google I/O, a new settings option for Linux apps has appeared on the Chrome OS Dev channel; titled as "Linux (Beta)," along with the description. The description reads "Run Linux tools, editors, and IDEs on your Chromebook." Reddit users were able to confirm that they were able to install Steam, however, GPU acceleration is currently broken so it will is unstable at the moment. furthermore, this feature seems to be limited to the Pixelbook, for now. We hope it will roll out more Chromebooks soon. The support is seemingly found on the Pixelbook which is updated to 68.0.3416.0 version (platform version 10635.0.0). Huawei patent hints at a smartwatch designed for gaming

According to the listing on World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Huawei has received a patent for a gaming smartwatch. The application was initially filed in December 2017 and follows patents with the Chinese Intellectual Office from 2015 and 2016 for development of the technology. The patent is titled 'Smart wearable device and control method for the smart wearable device.' Since this patent goes back to 2015, it looks like the company has now further developed the technology and is seeing an opportunity to implement this in an end product. The documentation is detailed and shows that the smartwatch is fully focused on gaming. Huawei is aiming to incorporate functions in the watch band, since operating via the touchscreen has some drawbacks. However, this isn't the first time Huawei has patented for a new smartwatch with operations where the watch band plays an important role. But it is the first that the operations are fully tuned and dedicated to gaming. Huawei is said to be using a rectangular watch case for the illustrations, which is very much similar to the Apple Watch. Honor 8 Pro gets Face Unlock, AR Lens, Idea VoLTE and more via OTA update in India

Google Assistant for Wear OS gets smart suggestions, ability to answers questions and Actions

Google introduced Assistant to its smartwatch back in 2017 and today it is rolling out a bunch of new features including smart suggestions, hear answers to questions and Actions.
