Turing Robotics files for bankruptcy in Finland, CEO Syl Chao says company is not going out of business

Turing Robotics, the force behind Turing phone has filed for a bankruptcy in Finland. The company which has started off as a promising brand by launching an ultra-secure smartphone in 2015 with Android 5.1 has soon taken a drastic turn and decided to settle down to Sailfish OS. After delaying the production of the phone, again and again, has finally filed for bankruptcy. The news came out first on February 3 from Finnish newspaper Salon Seudun Sanomat, who was closely following CEO Steve Syl Chao's progress in Salo, Finland where Turing rented an empty warehouse. The report from Salon Seudun Sanomat states that the creditors filed a claim with the company in 2017 and all of the company's movable property has been seized. [HTML1] However, CEO Chao has posted an update on the Facebook couple of days ago saying that filing was initiated to temporarily suspend the manufacturing intentions in Salo, and it doesn't mean that TRI is bankrupt. Sony Xperia X, X Compact Android 8.0 Oreo update starts rolling out

Sony confirmed list of smartphones that will get the Android Oreo update back in August last year.  It started rolling out Oreo update for its old smartphones from October starting from Xperia XZ Premium. Now it has started rolling out the update for Sony Xperia X and Sony Xperia X Compact smartphones that were originally launched with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), and later got the Android 7.0 and 7.1 (Nougat) updates. Android 8.0 Oreo update brings features like reminders for unfinished tasks such as emails in drafts and messages. It brings a new feature called Xperia actions which intelligently suggests actions based on your usage with all new games and community features. It brings contextual menus for app shortcuts which on long pressing will show more options. The update will also include Oreo default features like notification channels, improvements including Background limits, Snooze notifications, Picture in Picture (PIP) display, Adaptive icon and more. The update for both the phones have build number 34.4.A.0.364, is 1.19GB in size and also includes Android security patch for January, 2018. Huawei smartphones with dual rear cameras, full-screen display surface on TENAA

Four upcoming Huawei smartphones with model numbers FLA-TL10, FLA-AL00, LDN-TL00 and LND-TL30 have surfaced on TENAA in China. These show only images of the phones, one thing common with all these phones are full-screen display, dual rear cameras and rear mounted fingerprint sensor. The Huawei LDN-TL00 in Blue color seems to have a polycarbonate body and the image shows shiny frame. The Huawei FLA-TL10 and Huawei FLA-AL00 have a similar design with antenna bands on the top and bottom parts of the back. These also have dual front cameras in addition to dual rear cameras. Looking at the similar camera arrangement, this could belong to the Nova series. Finally, the Honor LND-TL30 model also has dual front and rear cameras. The rear cameras are arranged in a single block that includes the LED flash. This will have a metal finish in the middle and plastic finish on the top and the bottom parts of the back, according to the image. Samsung ISOCELL Dual sensor solution to bring dual cameras to mid-range and entry-level smartphones

Several smartphone makers have already released budget smartphones with dual rear cameras, now Samsung has introduced its new dual camera solution with ISOCELL Dual image sensors and proprietary software for refocusing (bokeh) and low-light shooting (LLS) for budget and entry-level smartphones. These were previously exclusively only to their premium smartphone lineup. Samsung introduced new ISOCELL Image Sensor Brand that includes Bright, Fast, Slim and Dual sub-brands at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai last year. Samsung says that its total dual camera solution will simplify the dual camera implementation and enable mid- to entry-level mobile devices to take advantage of certain camera features that are available mainly in premium devices equipped with an extra image signal processor. The company is offering industry’s first total dual camera solution, with both ISOCELL Dual sensor hardware and sensor-optimized algorithm software for mid-range and entry-level smartphones to utilize dual camera features like refocusing and LLS. The refocus algorithm will be available in 13-megapixel (MP) and 5-megapixel (MP) set of image sensors, and its LLS algorithm with a set of two 8-megapixel (MP) sensors, to simplify implementation by OEMs. Source

Google rolls out February 2018 Android security update, includes Bluetooth, Camera improvements for Pixel 2
