Reliance Jio plans revised again for Republic Day – 28-day pack at Rs. 98, more data on other packs

Reliance Jio revised its packs earlier this month offering more data and Rs.50 cheaper rates, soon after it introduced Happy New Year 2018 plans. Now the company has revised its plans again ahead of Republic Day 2018. It has introduced a new pack for Rs. 98 that offers unlimited calling and 2GB data with 28 days validity. All existing 1GB per day packs are enhanced to 1.5GB per day; 1.5GB per day packs are enhanced to 2GB per day. Rs. 149, Rs. 349, Rs. 399 and Rs. 449 packs now offer 42GB, 105GB, 126GB and 136GB data with 28 days, 70 days, 84 days and 91 days validity, respectively offering 1.5GB data per day. The Rs. 198, Rs. 398, Rs. 448 and Rs. 498 packs now offer 56GB, 140GB, 168GB and 182GB data with 28 days, 70 days, 84 days and 91 days validity, respectively offering 2GB data per day. These plans will be available starting from Friday, 26th January, 2018 on Republic Day. Jio is still offering 100% cashback that offers Rs. 400 worth vouchers on recharge of Rs. 398 or more as well as cashback up to Rs. 300 cashback from its wallet partners.

Acer Chromebook Spin 11, Chromebook 11 C732 and Chromebox CXI3 announced

Acer today has introduced two new Chromebooks; Chromebook Spin 11, Chromebook 11 C732 and Chromebox CXI3 at The Bett Show in London. The Chromebooks are specifically intended for education and enterprise markets. The newly launched Acer products will support and will be able to run Google Play apps.  Acer Chromebook Spin 11 just as the name, sports an 11.6-inches HD (1366x768) touchscreen display with stylus input. The optional stylus is powered by the  Wacom EMR (Electro-Magnetic Resonance) technology 2.  it is powered by the Intel Pentium quad-core processor N4200, Intel Celeron quad-core processor N3450, or an Intel Celeron dual-core processor N3350 depending on the SKU. It also comes with 4GB or 8GB LPDDR4 memory with 32GB or 64GB onboard eMMC storage. The Chromebook has retained the 360-degree hinge design. Coming to ports, it has two USB-C 3.1 ports for charging, data, and connecting external displays, in addition to two standard USB 3.1 ports and a microSD card reader. Connectivity ports include 2x2 MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2. Nokia 8 Android 8.1 Oreo beta update starts rolling out

HMD Global started rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo beta update for the  Nokia 8 smartphone in October and it got the stable Android 8.0 update in November last year. Today the company has released the latest Android 8.1 Oreo update for the beta testers and the Chief product officer; Juho Sarvikas announced the same on Twitter. He already confirmed that Nokia 2 will get Android 8.1 directly, skipping 8.0. Android 8.1 brings several new features including Neural Networks API, hamburger emoji fix, Revamped power menu, New Settings Menu, Bluetooth Battery percentage and developer APIs (API level 27), along with the latest optimizations, bug fixes, and security patches. Xiaomi Surge S2 Octa-Core SoC could be announced at MWC 2018, power Mi 6X / Mi A2

Xiaomi introduced the Surge S1, its first in-house Octa-Core SoC  at an event in China back in February last year, which powers the Mi 5c. Now details about its successor Surge S2 has surfaced. According to reports from China, the Surge S2 will be based on TSMC 16nm process technology compared to 28nm in the predecessor. It will be an Octa-Core SoC, but it will four ARM Cortex A73 core clocked at 2.2GHz and the other ARM Cortex A53 cores will be clocked at 1.8GHz. It will pack Mali-G71 MP8 GPU with support for UFS2.1 and LPDDR4 memory. The SoC is rumored to debut at the MWC 2018 next month and could power the Mi 6X in China, which recently surfaced in some case leaks and the international version of the phone Mi A2 could also be powered by the SoC. As far as the Mi 6X / A2 rumors, the phone is said to feature a full-screen display and come with a vertical dual rear camera arrangement on the left corner and a fingerprint sensor in the center part of the back. Wine 3.0 Windows compatibility layer launched for Android

Wine; popular windows compatibility layer which lets you run Windows-powered apps on non-windows machines like Linux or Mac is now rolling to Android as well with Wine 3.0. Wine can now be installed as an App on Android phones.  Though the first alpha release in support for Android launched in 2016, it is only the feature is being rolled out to Android phones. Once you install and open the Wine app, it treats you like a full-screen Windows display and a Start menu at the lower-left corner. The release also includes support for audio and basic graphics. Since it is still in early stages, the app might be crashing or freeze on certain phones. The DPI scaling is also buggy at the moment. There is no support for  Direct3D yet, so unless you force the apps or games to run on OpenGL, you can't take full advantage. You will be needing an X86 Android phone for it to function and can only use programs that are ported to Windows RT. Other changes in Wine 3.0 include Direct3D 10 and 11 support, Direct3D command stream, and improved DirectWrite and Direct2D support. Lenovo today has launched the Yoga 920 limited edition 2-in-1 glass convertible laptop in India. It is powered by the 8th generation Intel Quad Core U Series processors with integrated graphics and twin Thunderbolt USB-C ports. The Lenovo Yoga 920 was initially introduced at the IFA event in 2017. The Lenovo Yoga 920 Vibes sports a 13.9-inch UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels) IPS touchscreen display and has support for the Active Pen with 4,096 levels of pen sensitivity dramatically. It is powered by the 8th Intel Core i7 processor along with Intel Integrated graphics backed by 16GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB PCIe SSD storage option. The laptop just weighs 1.37 kg and measures 323 x 223.5 x 13.95 mm. The laptop features a backlit keyboard and JBL Speakers with integrated Dolby Atmos technology. Uber relaunches auto service in India starting from Bengaluru

Uber launched its uberAUTO service in New Delhi, Coimbatore, Indore, and Bhubaneshwar back in 2015 in an experimental basis, but it later stopped the services. Today the company has relaunched its auto service in the country starting from Bengaluru. You can request for AUTO in the same app that now has a new AUTO option to select in addition to  Pool, Go,  PREMIER, XL and Assist. AUTO rides start at a fare of Rs. 25 for the first 4 kms inclusive of a pick up charge of Rs. 15 and for rides greater than 4 kms, the regular fare of rs. 13 per km will apply. You can pay cash or use Paytm, UPI, credit and debit card. Uber AUTO is now available in Koramangala, HSR Layout and Bellandur areas in Bengaluru and will be expanded to other areas of the city soon. However, you can request a ride to any part of the city from these areas. This is definitely the most affordable mode of transport after buses. Uber is expect to launch the auto service in Pune next.

Xbox One X 4K HDR gaming console launched in India for Rs. 44990

Microsoft today launched  Xbox One X, its latest and its most powerful gaming console in India. It was introduced back in June at the E3 2017 conference and has 4K HDR gaming and streaming capabilities, built-in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X offering 3D spatial sound. "With 6 Teraflops, 326GB/s of Memory Bandwidth and advanced, custom silicon, the Scorpio Engine is the world’s most powerful console gaming processor," said Microsoft at the launch. Gboard Go now rolling out to Android 8.1 phones with low RAM

Google back at the Google for India event in 2017 announced the Android Oreo (Go Edition) for entry-level Android devices along with a suite of optimized apps including Google Go, Google Assistant Go, YouTube Go, Google Maps Go, Gmail Go, Gboard, Google Play, Chrome, and the new Files Go app. While the Maps Go, YouTube Go were recently rolled out, it is Gboard Go that is rolling out now. The Go edition apps are optimised to work smoothly on low-cost Android phones with 1GB RAM or less. The apps are available for Android phones running 8.1 Oreo. The Gboard Go doesn't have a Play Store listing of its own, but the app can be side-loaded. Features of Gboard Go app include themes, gesture typing, and integrated search and it installs on top of the standard app. However, GIF search, stickers, and One-handed mode are a no-show. The Go edition keyboard is about 40MB, while the original is 70MB. According to the uploader of the APK, the update with v6.9.4 is showing up for devices with a low RAM.
